9. Hove stone church
On the opposite side of the village lies Hove stone church. This has been dated as about 30 to 40 years later than Urnes and Hopperstad.
The decor is rich and detailed. The chancel has narrow, painted glass windows. This was probably built as a private church for a prominent landowner in Hove. The architect Peter Andreas Blix saved this church too. When the Society was unable to take the church over, Blix bought it and restored it at his own expense. The beautifully decorated church is one of the oldest stone churches in the country and Vik is the only place in the country to have both a stave church and a stone church from the middle ages.
